Enterance Requirements

American Global University School of Medicine requires a minimum of 90 semester credits of college level courses for admission to the School of Medicine.
Although a baccalaureate degree is strongly preferred, students who have demonstrated exceptional scholarship may be considered without a baccalaureate degree. College credits must include the following:

  • Biology - One year of Biology, including Laboratory work. Prospective students will benefit by taking courses in one or more of the following: Genetics, Cellular Biology, Developmental Biology, and Comparative Anatomy.
  • General Chemistry - One year of General Chemistry, including Laboratory work.
  • Organic Chemistry - One year of Organic Chemistry, including Laboratory work. Coursework should include both aliphatic and aromatic compounds
  • General Physics - One year of General Physics, including Laboratory work. General introductory coursework should include mechanics, heat, light, sound, electricity, and nuclear radiation.
  • English - One year. Satisfactory written and verbal skills are necessary.

A generous exposure to mathematics, humanities, and social sciences is desired. Real life experience in the health care field is strongly recommended.
Additionally, a personal interview may be requested at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.

Selection Factors:
The Admissions Committee considers many factors as relevant predictors of a good medical clinician. However, as medical school is a rigorous academic challenge, the Committee must be satisfied that a prospective student has the ability to successfully assimilate the curriculum.
Evaluation for admission is conducted on an individual basis. Students accepted to AGUSM are selected for their intellectual and social maturity as well as their wide educational and social backgrounds. Problem-solving skills, critical judgment, and the ability to pursue independent study are also of high consideration. When evaluating academic achievement, the Committee considers factors such as course load, difficulty of the courses, and major area of study. In the non-academic area, maturity, emotional and motivational factors, and personal integrity are considered essential determinants.

Requirements for Graduation
To be awarded the M.D. degree from American Global University School of Medicine, the eligible student must satisfactorily complete the medical sciences portion of the curriculum as well as all required 72 weeks of clinical rotations. Furthermore, the student must pass the USMLE Step 1 and all core examinations. The student must fulfill all financial obligations to the University, including a $1,000 graduation fee, while complying at all times with the Student Honor Code (set out under "Policies").

Advanced Standing transp

Students presenting secondary school (or Advanced Level or International Baccalaureate) credentials will be placed into the appropriate semester based on their academic backgrounds.  Medical courses taken at other recognized medical schools may be considered for transfer credit. Requests for advanced standing must be made at the time of initial application to the University.  Applications for transfer/advanced standing are evaluated on an individual basis, by the Admission Committee and are contingent upon the following conditions:

  • Applicant must be transferring from a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools published by the World Health Organization
  • Transfer credits are granted for successfully passed coursework only
  • Applicant must be in good academic standing
  • Transfer is subject to availability of space
  • Transfer students must meet all documentation requirements of a new Applicant
  • Official and up to date transcripts from the medical school attended must be provided
  • Students wishing to transfer directly to the Clinical Rotation program will stand a better chance of acceptance if they have passed the USMLE Step I

Please Note: AGUSM does not grant advanced standing to students for work done in schools of Podiatry, Allied Health, Chiropractic, Osteopaths, Dentistry, Physician Assistants or Nurses. Health professionals who wish to upgrade their skills and earn an MD degree may be admitted to the first semester of Medical Science Program.  The Admissions Committee of American Global University School of Medicine considers many factors as relevant predictors of a good medical student. However, as medical school is a rigorous academic challenge, the Committee must be satisfied that a prospective student has the ability to successfully assimilate the curriculum.   AGUSM’s Admissions Committee evaluates Applicants in a comprehensive manner. We are interested in the whole individual and evaluate applications using all components of the application package. Our goal is to determine whether or not you have the academic ability and determination to pursue a rigorous medical school education. We look beyond GPA calculations and test scores in order to determine your motivation, maturity, leadership ability, knowledge of the medical field and academic progression in time.
